You're in the middle of editing one file when you suddenly need to handle another PDF — a quick date fix on a different document, say. You don't need to leave the page and reopen the site; the editor's top bar has a direct way to switch files.

How to switch

  1. In the top-left of the editor, find the "Open File" button next to the filename.
  2. Click it and your system's file picker appears.
  3. Choose the new PDF, and the editor loads it, replacing whatever you were currently editing.

What to check before switching

Switching to a new file means any un-downloaded changes to the current file are lost (undo history resets too). If the current file still has edits you haven't clicked "Download" to save, make sure you actually want to discard them before switching — download the current file first if you need to keep it.

When this comes in handy

When working through a batch of files in LocalPDF, using this switch button saves the steps of leaving the editor, going back to the homepage, and dragging in a new upload — a shorter path overall.

Handling several PDFs in a row? Use "Open File" in the top bar to switch.
