Tutorial: How to Move, Resize, and Delete Anything You've Added

Whatever you add — text, an inserted image, a highlight, a rectangle — you'll often need to adjust it afterward: nudge its position, change its size, or just delete it and start over. The workflow for all of these is the same throughout LocalPDF.

Switch back to the Select tool first

Before adjusting anything that already exists, click the "Select" tool in the top toolbar (shortcut: V). In another tool's mode (like Text), clicking the page creates a new element instead of selecting an existing one.

Select and move

In Select mode, hover over the element and click once to select it (a selection outline appears). Click and hold, then drag to move it to a new position.

Resize

Once selected, a round handle appears in the bottom-right corner — drag it to scale proportionally. Text elements resize a bit differently: change the number directly in the font-size input in the top toolbar.

Delete

With the element selected, click the delete button (trash icon) in the top toolbar, or just press Delete on your keyboard.

Change color/thickness

Select a highlight, a drawn line, a rectangle, or a text element and the color swatch and number input in the top toolbar automatically switch to that element's current properties — change them directly and it updates live, no need to delete and re-add.

A small tip

If you adjust something by mistake, Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) reverts to how it was before — no need to manually change it back.
