A scanner flips a few pages upside down, merging documents scrambles the page order, a blank page sneaks in halfway through — these "housekeeping" problems come up constantly when working with PDFs, and thankfully they're usually easier to fix than editing text.
Three common scenarios
- Pages are rotated or sideways: paper fed into a scanner or photographed at the wrong orientation, leaving some pages upside down or on their side.
- Pages are in the wrong order: for example, pages from two contracts got interleaved, or a stack of paper was scanned out of sequence.
- There are extra blank pages: auto-feed scanners frequently pick up an extra blank sheet.
How to fix it
In a PDF editor with a thumbnail panel (like LocalPDF), a small preview of every page appears on the side:
- Reorder pages: drag a page's thumbnail to where it should go and drop it — you'll see the new order right away.
- Rotate a page: select the sideways or upside-down page and click rotate, 90° at a time, until it's right-side up.
- Delete a page: select a blank or unneeded page and click delete — the thumbnail list updates instantly.
A tip: tidy up pages first, edit content second
If a document needs both page reordering and content edits, it's worth fixing page order, orientation, and blank pages first, then moving on to editing text and images. That avoids the back-and-forth of editing content, then having to relocate a page, then re-checking your edits.
The thumbnail panel supports drag-to-reorder, one-click rotate, and delete — all processed locally in your browser.
