Some annotations don't fit neatly into a highlight or text box — an arrow pointing at something with a short note, a handwritten signature, circling a specific detail in a chart. For these, you want the more flexible Draw tool.

Steps

  1. Open LocalPDF and load your PDF.
  2. Click the "Draw" tool in the top toolbar.
  3. Click and hold, then drag freely across the page — release to finish a stroke.
  4. Adjust line color (the swatch) and thickness (the number input) from the top toolbar — either before drawing, or by reselecting an existing stroke.
  5. On a trackpad or touchscreen device, drawing with your finger or a stylus works the same way.
  6. Click "Download" when you're done.

A tip for handwriting a signature

Drawing a signature with a mouse rarely looks natural — if you can, use a touchscreen device (like a tablet) with a stylus for a smoother stroke. Zooming in on the page before signing also gives you finer control over the details.

Made a mistake?

Click an existing stroke to select it (a selection highlight appears), then drag to reposition it or click delete to remove it and redraw. You can also use the "Undo" button in the top toolbar (or Ctrl+Z) to undo your last action.
