Reading a contract, reviewing a paper, studying from notes — highlighting the important parts makes it much faster to come back and find what matters. Here's how to highlight content in a PDF using LocalPDF.

Steps

  1. Open LocalPDF and load your PDF.
  2. Click the "Highlight" tool in the top toolbar.
  3. Click and drag over the text you want to mark, then release — that area gets colored in as a highlight.
  4. Pick a color from the swatch in the top toolbar — either before highlighting, or by reselecting an existing highlight and changing its color.
  5. Click "Download" when you're done.

Can you edit a highlight afterward?

Yes. Click an existing highlight to select it (a selection outline appears), then drag to reposition or resize it, change its color from the top toolbar, or click delete to remove it.

A usage tip

If a document needs to distinguish between "must fix" and "just for reference," color-coding helps — red for problems, yellow for things worth a second look, green for confirmed. That way collaborators can tell each mark's meaning at a glance.
